I got my first job out of college working for an interior design firm, and after nine months of cold calling, I earned a small commission checking clients’ homes for the company. I was on my way to making some decent money, but I had no clue that the HomeGoods store would become my second full-time job by the time I was done with college. Maybe I should have taken a few more classes…

homegoods shopping hacks

HomeGoods is one of the few stores where I could shop every day! Because of my HomeGoods shopping habit, I’ve had to learn how to shop there properly – without blowing my budget, squandering money, or losing out on great deals.

Buying at HomeGoods is much the same as shopping at an expensive indoor flea market. Every time you come, you will undoubtedly discover something new. “Shoppers enjoy the ‘treasure hunt’ experience they receive each time they come since our high-quality goods is ever-changing,” says Joanna Howarth, public relations manager at HomeGoods [source].

HomeGoods is a budget shopper’s dream store since it sells high-quality items for 20 percent to 60 percent less than other stores, including famous designer names.

If you like shopping at HomeGoods as much as I do, here are 7 HomeGoods hacks that will enhance your experience.

1. Get the HomeGoods App.

If only there was a way to find out what’s new at your neighborhood HomeGoods… Oh, wait, that’s something you can do with an app!

The HomeGoods app is a fantastic resource for HG fans, and it’s available on both the App Store and Google Play. Go to “The Goods” in the app to view the most recent arrivals by location. In addition, other HomeGoods customers share photos of their finds.

Users may store gift cards, manage their TJX Rewards credit card, and access and redeem rewards using the HomeGoods app.

Pro Tip: While exploring the app, if you find something you really must have at your local HomeGoods, you may contact the store and ask them to hold it for you.

2. Maintain a Record of Your Receipts

It’s easy to walk out of HomeGoods with things you don’t need, but the discounts are too tempting to pass up. They do, however, offer a great return policy. If you’re not happy with your purchase, return it within 30 days of purchase with a register receipt for an exchange or refund in the original method of payment [source].

The trick is to maintain track of your receipts. If you don’t have one, you’ll just get product credit at the current price. You may get substantially less than what you paid since HomeGoods goods are reduced more rapidly than conventional merchants.

Receipts from HomeGoods may be used to make money.

You’ll want to save your HomeGoods receipts in case you need to return anything, but did you know you can cash them out? That is correct.

CoinOut is a straightforward software that pays you for your purchases. After you’ve downloaded and installed the app, take a picture of your receipt from stores like HomeGoods. Every receipt recorded by your camera and submitted to CoinOut will earn you a random prize.

You can also earn cashback by using the CoinOut app to buy online and signing up with CoinOut partners. Begin your purchase from the CoinOut app by clicking on the merchant logo, and you will get CoinOut cash back immediately after the transaction is completed.

3. Request a discount at HomeGoods.

Don’t make the mistake of believing that just because something is on sale at HomeGoods, it can’t be reduced any more. You may (and should) ask for a discount if an item is damaged. That chaise you like but which has a tiny rip on the side (which you know you can fix)? They’ll almost certainly offer you a 10% discount on top of that. If that is not the case, there is no harm in asking.

Monthly Bills With Discounts

Isn’t it great if you could get a “discount” on your monthly bills? There’s good news! Trim can help you save money on your cable, internet, and phone costs.

When you share basic bill information with Trim, we’ll go to work on getting you better prices. It works with a number of major providers, including Comcast, Time Warner, Verizon, and a number of others.

Trim is fantastic since it is completely free to test. Trim will not charge you anything if it is unable to reduce your expenses. Trim, on the other hand, if it lowers your monthly expenses, you retain 85 percent of your savings the first year and 100 percent the following years.

Trim collects their payment right away. Trim, for example, would seek their 15% charge ($18) straight immediately if you save $10/month ($120/year). After that, though, you retain 100% of your money.

4. Keep looking until you find something you like.

The abundance of interesting things at HomeGoods tempts you to purchase something every time you go, but that’s a mistake. Spending money only to spend money is not a wise financial plan. Purchase things that will help you manage and streamline your life. Purchases of clutter should be avoided. If your local shop doesn’t have what you’re looking for, go to a different one.

Alternatively, you may always return another day. HomeGoods receives fresh shipments many times each week, so it’s a good idea to become friends with the management or store workers to find out when supplies arrive.

Pro Tip: When it comes to shopping at HomeGoods, experts advise avoiding weekends when the store is very crowded and Mondays when they are still recuperating from the weekend. It’s also a good idea to shop around the lunch hour rather than early in the morning, so that workers have ample time to set out fresh goods.

When you shop online, you can save.

When you shop at HomeGoods in person, you’ll save a lot of money, and when you shop online at Capital One Shopping, you’ll save a lot of money.

Never spend time looking for expired discount codes on the internet again. Instead, use the free Capital One Shopping browser extension, which will locate and apply legitimate discount codes for you. It will also notify you of Capital One Credits possibilities, which you may use to get free gift cards to your favorite shops. Plus, when you buy on Amazon, Capital One Shopping compares pricing to those of the largest online shops so you can determine whether you’re getting a good bargain.

5. Apply for a TJX Rewards Credit Card.

If you buy at HomeGoods often, you might consider getting a TJX Rewards Credit Card. You receive 10% off your first in-store purchase when you open a TJX Rewards Credit Card.

Plus, every time you buy at the HomeGoods family of shops, you get 5% back in rewards (TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Sierra Trading Post). When you achieve 1,000 points, you’ll get a voucher for $10 in shop credit, which works out to a 5% discount.

It’s essential to keep in mind that you should only obtain a TJX Rewards Credit Card if you’re comfortable with credit cards. This is not the credit card for you if you are not a regular shopper at this chain of shops and will not profit from the rewards program. It’s not a smart financial decision to obtain this credit card if it pushes you to spend more at HomeGoods than you can pay off each month.

Consider taking the Mindful Money Workshop before applying for a credit card. This five-part video course will teach you how to spend money wisely.

6. Subscribe to HomeGoods News

You don’t want to miss out on anything going on at HomeGoods, do you? Become a subscriber to their email newsletter! They’ll send out notifications about new arrivals, great discounts, and other things.

You may also take a virtual tour of HomeGoods to get a 360-degree perspective of the shop. You may also go on a tour of various areas including Dining, Gardening, and Accent Furniture.

7. Use social media to follow HomeGoods and influencers.

Following HomeGoods and other HomeGoods fans on social media is the greatest way to keep on top of the current trends and get some creative ideas. The official HomeGoods account, as well as social media influencers like @homegoodsobsessed, share photos of new items as they arrive in shops.
